St. Clair County Domestic Violence Council Meeting Coordinator
General Goal of the Position:
Reserve meeting room, record and distribute meeting minutes. 

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
3-4 hours per month for 1 year (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Ability to record accurate meeting minutes.  Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, provide three personal or professional references. 

 Art & Craft Activity Facilitator

General Goal of the Position:
Plan and facilitate one craft project each month with adults and children residing in the shelter.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
4-6 hours per month for 1 year (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Creativity, Patience, Ability to maintain professional boundaries, complete volunteer orientation plus 34 hours of shelter observation. Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check and provide three personal or professional references.

Agency Video Assistant Producer

General Goal of the Position:
Assist Outreach Manager and other members of the management team in developing and producing a short video outlining Safe Horizons agency and service information.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
6-10 hours per month for 6 month (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Video production and editing experience.   Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references. 

Family Game Night Coordinator

General Goal of the Position:
Facilitate a family game night twice a month for Carolyn’s Place shelter residents.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
2 days per month for 2-4hours for 1 year (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Patience, Ability to maintain professional boundaries, enjoy being around children, complete volunteer orientation plus 34 hours of shelter observation, Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, provide three personal or professional references

 

Garden and Flower Bed Specialist

General Goal of the Position:
Maintain small shelter garden and flower beds

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
2-4 hours per week from May through September (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Enjoy gardening.  Have gardening skills.  Attend volunteer orientation and an additional 14 hours of shelter observation.   Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references

Relief Crisis Line Operator/ Shelter Support Specialist

General Goal of the Position:
Answer the crisis line and support shelter residents during staff meetings and trainings

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
2-8 hours per month for one year (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation.   Ability to maintain professional boundaries.  Be available during the day, one to two days per month (generally Thursday mornings).  Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation plus an additional 40 hours of shelter observation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references. 

 

Children’s Party Coordinator

General Goal of the Position:
Coordinate and supervise parties for children in the shelter.  Parties can be themed for holidays and special occasions.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
4-6 hours per month for 1 year (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Creativity, Patience, Ability to maintain professional boundaries, Enjoy being around children, complete volunteer orientation, 4 hours of children’s group observation and 30 hours of shelter observation, Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, provide three personal or professional references

 

Port Huron Area Literature Distributer

General Goal of the Position:
Distribute Safe Horizons brochures and information to the Port Huron area.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
4-6 hours per month (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Safe transportation.  Valid Michigan driver’s license.   Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references.

 

Northeast St. Clair County Literature Distributer (areas east of M-19 and north of
I-69 excluding Port Huron)

General Goal of the Position:
Distribute Safe Horizons brochures and information to northeastern areas of the county.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
4-6 hours per month (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Safe transportation.  Valid Michigan driver’s license.   Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references. 

 

Mid St. Clair County Literature Distributer (areas east of M-19 south of I-69 and north of Fred Moore Highway excluding Port Huron)

General Goal of the Position:
Distribute Safe Horizons brochures and information to mid areas of the county.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
4-6 hours per month (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Safe transportation.  Valid Michigan driver’s license.   Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references.

 

Southern St. Clair County Literature Distributer (areas south of Fred Moore Highway

General Goal of the Position:
Distribute Safe Horizons brochures and information to southern areas of the county.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
4-6 hours per month (renewable commitment)

Qualifications:
Safe transportation.  Valid Michigan driver’s license.   Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references.

Shelter Aid

General Goals of the Position:  Assisting staff with daily shelter duties, and clients with needs.

Time Commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
2 days a week, for 6 months

Qualifications:  Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references.  Able to honor Confidentiality policy, boundaries.

Budgeting Coordinator

General Goals: Assisting clients with monthly money management and budgeting.

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
1 day a week for about 4 hours, for 6 months

Qualifications: Budgeting skills. Organizational skills.  Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references.

Donation Coordinator

To help maintain shelter organization

Time commitment (weekly/monthly expectation and duration of position):
1 day a week for 6 months

Organization skills.  Attend Safe Horizons volunteer orientation.  Have no pending or substantiated allegations of child or vulnerable adult abuse, pass a criminal background check, and provide three personal or professional references.
